Project details: I created an editorial full spread layout for a Medium article, featuring spot illustrations to feature with a dynamic text layout.
In this academic project, the goal was to take an online article and convert it into an editorial full spread layout with suitable illustrations alongside it. I chose a Medium article discussing the LA food trend of avocado toast. I explored readability, rendering, and a dynamic composition.

First ideated layout with final sketches of the spot illustrations. From here, I try to make the text more interesting and less crammed.
Second ideated layout with final spot illustrations. I work on the text layout again, trying to give more breathing room to the illustrations.
Final full page spread after the two rounds of critiques, fixing the background contrast against the illustration and how the text is laid out.
